Born in Copenhagen in 1978, Rie Rasmussen grew up in a family of nine children. She left at the age of 15, to go to New York, where she quickly became the symbolic face of the brands Victoria’s Secret and Gucci. Alongside modelling, she began a career in cinema, making her first appearance on the big screen in 2002, in Brian De Palma’s "Femme Fatale", before going behind the camera to make the short film "Thinning the Herd", presented at the Cannes Film Festival in 2004, and produced by Luc Besson’s company, EuropaCorp. The film director-producer discovered a new muse in her, since he made her the female star "Angel-A" alongside Jamel Debbouze, before producing his first feature length film, Human Zoo, where she also had the leading role.
