Biography
Alain
Etchepare was born in December 1965 in Biarritz. Today
he lives between France and Turkey. Through his photographs,
he likes to misappropriate reality to suggest a whole other story. Man is most
often present there only through his expression, and by the traces that he
leaves there, superb or hideous, useful or destructive.
His
encounter with photography took place in 1984 during a long visit to Polynesia
when a friend allowed him to participate in a black and white printing session.
He came out bowled over and with only one idea in his head: make his life into
a source of pictures. A self-taught route led him towards a career as an
illustration photographer
until 2001. By ideological conviction, a change of orientation incited him to invest
in the creation of a communication agency. Very taken by the durability of this
new activity, he took almost no pictures until 2006. The need for creation took
the better of him. Today his photography practice is mainly orientated towards
the presentation of personal works. Through his scenes, he wants you to
discover a dreamlike or poetic universe, sometimes a little melancholic or
dramatic, but always intimist and with lots of room for the imagination.
