Red story #2
Ilya
Rashap
About this photograph :
Red story #2
In a figurative sense, the term ‘tanagra’ designates a woman who stands out because of her grace and finesse. A tanagra is also a terracotta statuette dating from Antiquity. The models in the ‘Red story’ series conjure up these sculptures of outstanding finesse. A dark silhouette stands out against a red carmine background. A woman dressed in a long, fitted dress and wearing a hat is striking a pose. The vertical format of the photograph lengthens the silhouette which seems all the more elegant and refined.
About the artist :
Ilya
Rashap
Ilya Rashap was born in Russia in
1979. Beyond just a mimetic function, he tries to photograph something which
does not exist. Aesthetics are important but it is not enough for the photograph
to be beautiful. Whether a landscape or a portrait, a good photograph should be
above all a metamorphosis of reality and appeal to the viewer’s imagination.
