About this photograph :
Rainy Manhattan night
The German photographer Jörg Dickmann devotes his work to the depiction of urban landscapes. Very high definition digital allows him to reproduce the chromatic richness of the city. By using artificial lighting, the photographer chooses the extreme saturation of colour to identify the city of New York. To capture the speed of the car headlights on Times Square, Dickmann uses a tripod in order to respect the slow shutter speed required. This technique allows him to ‘catch’ the movement and thus produce a powerful image of the city’s energy.
About the artist :
Jörg
Dickmann
Jörg Dickmann was born in 1973 in Sauerland, Germany. He started taking photos as a child, his father always had his SLR camera with him, photography has therefore always been a part of his life. In the beginning he only took holiday snapshots, just for the fun of it, with no serious ambition. After publishing his work on the web, he received a huge amount of positive feedback from professional photographers. His photos were published in several German magazines: Foto Praxis, Focus, ELLE City… Which motivated him to find his own photographic style. His work focuses mainly on urbanism, architecture and nightscapes. Jörg has always been self-taught and wants to show his own view of the world. He doesn’t want to copy reality, he wants to create his own…
