About this photograph :
Although a composer, writer and also a broadcaster, Glenn Gould was known in particular for his classical piano repertoire interpretations. Eccentric or at least considered as such, he definitively abandoned his career as concert performer in 1964 at the age of 32. However he continued to record records and produce radio programmes. His way of playing had distinctive speed and he had an unusually clear voice. His extravagant personality was apparent in his general lifestyle. However, his use of a single and unique folding chair with sawn-off feet is remembered. This seat which forced him to double over and put his face almost at the level of the keys accompanied him on each of his trips throughout his whole life.
